CONTINUOUS STAIR TO FLOOR RAILINGS IN REVIT

FREE

This guide will explain how to extend a stair-hosted Railing onto a Floor instead of using multiple railings that are modelled independently. This will resolve issues around baluster placement and railing transitions that occur when using independent railings as shown below.

  1. Open the Floor Plan that relates to the top of the stair.

Open a 3D View.

  1. In the 3D view select the Railing that is not associated to the Stair.

Click the Modify tab > Mode panel >Edit Path button.

  1. Select the Sketch Line that forms the path of the Railing.
  2. Click the Modify tab > Clipboard panel > Copy to Clipboard.

  1. Click the Modify tab > Mode panel > Finish Edit Mode button.
  2. Delete the Railing.
  3. In the Plan view select the relevant Railing that is associated to the Stair.

Click the Modify tab > Mode panel >Edit Path button.

  1. In Sketch Mode click the Modify tab > Clipboard panel > Paste dropdown > Aligned to Current View button.
  2. The purple Sketch Line now extends onto the Floor.

Click the Modify tab > Mode panel > Finish Edit Mode button.

  1. The Railing associated to the Stair and Floor will now be a single element.
  2. Repeat the above steps to create the second continuous Railing.
