* UPDATED FOR COMPLIANCE WITH CIC BIM PROTOCOL 2nd EDITION *
One of the key requirements of the BIM Protocol is the provision of an RM which should:
- breakdown the elements of construction
- specify the responsible parties for each
- clarify the expected LOD & LOI at each stage
Also (previously) known as an MPDT or Model Element Table, it can be used to help ensure that all task information requirements are completed at the expected stage.
The Evolve template provides default element breakdowns based on Uniclass 2015 which can be removed or added to as required on the project.
It differs from many available Responsibility Matrix templates as it goes beyond the simple element breakdown defining LOD2 at Stage 2, LOD3 at Stage 3. It can be used as a simple breakdown:
But using the groups on the left-hand side, it can be expanded to show the full LOI for each element:
There are three columns for LOI: Model Element, IFC Property and COBie Field, allowing an easy visual map of which property should be completed in the model authoring software, the IFC property that will map to, and the eventual COBie field to be delivered for FM. In this way, it becomes simple for design teams, Information Managers and everyone else to see exactly how and when the necessary information needs to be completed.
Evolve’s template is downloadable free of charge and can be edited as required for your project’s needs.
